- GET ORGANIZED- Decide how you will store your coupons. Google coupon organization methods to find all the different methods. I use the binder method. Basic three ring binder full of baseball card inserts and divided by categories. I also have a 3 ring zipper pouch at the back that I keep scissors, pens, and a calculator in. Organization is key to a successful shopping trip! Here is a link to a website where you can purchase binders. Each binder comes with scissors, calculator, several information sheets with websites, coupon codes, and lots of other great information. She also lets you pick up to $75 in coupons that she will include in your binder! Click here to see a picture of one of her binders: http://leeannescouponbinder.webs.com/undefined/100_4879.JPG
- FIND COUPONS- Now that you know how you are going to store your coupons, you need to find them.
- Newspapers: Find out which paper in your area carries ALL of the inserts

- Product websites: If you have products that you buy all the time try visiting their website. A lot of companies will offer coupons to consumers that join their website or go to their facebook page and like their page, they will give you a coupon.
- Store coupons: Visit the web page of the stores that you shop at most. Most of them offer their own store coupons.
- Clipping services: Clipping services offer you the ability to just purchase specific coupons/inserts that you are needing and in the quantity you are needing. A really great clipping service is www.thecouponclippers.com
- JOIN A COUPON BLOG- Coupon blogs and forums are VERY helpful resources to the beginning couponer and the experienced couponer. They offer store specific forums where you can find weekly sales matchups, store coupon policy info, ask about specific coupons, and find out what's hot that week. They also offer coupon trading, coupon deals, and have daily deals advertised. You can find coupons that have just been posted with links to the coupon and more! It's a great place to find answers to all of your questions. My favorite is www.weusecoupons.com
- GET A SALES PAPER FOR YOUR STORE EVERY WEEK- You need to know what is on sale as well as any other specials your store is running that week to match up your coupons effectively.
- KNOW YOUR STORES COUPON POLICY- It is important to know the coupon policy of all stores you shop in. Knowing what their policies are enables you to get the most out of each of your coupons. It is also a good idea to keep an updated copy of the stores policy in your binder so that should you need to refer to it you have it readily available. (It is also not uncommon to have to prove to a cashier that you are within store policy on a coupon you are trying to use.)
- KNOW WHO "STACKS" COUPONS- Some stores allow what is called "stacking" coupons. This is when a store allows you to use their store coupon or a competitors store coupon on top of a manufacturer coupon. This is especially nice for people who live in areas like mine that do not have stores that double coupons!
- READ YOUR COUPONS CAREFULLY- Pay attention to the wording on your coupons. Expiration dates, quantity of coupons allowed per purchase, etc...
