Google anyone?

It's Memorial Day and I have spent the better part of an hour gleaning 4 and 5 star recipes from my best friend Google. How on earth did I ever cook before Google. I think our food must have been very boring and routine.  We are grilling steak for dinner and I wanted to do some crispy diced potatoes as a side. Unfortunately, all previous (non Google) attempts have failed miserably! They burn on the bottom while remaining uncooked in the middle. The lack of flavor also has been an issue. So, I have Googled my way into a 4 1/2 star recipe that is sure to succeed. Well, I will of course be omitting several ingredients. Am I the only one that does that? I have a bad habit of doing this. I have a four star recipe in hand with literally hundreds of reviews to prove it's worthiness of those four stars, yet I will not stick to the recipe but expect a four star result. Here are my reasoning's: you see, most recipes I find have a lot of ingredients that I would not normally use (which is probably why I'm not receiving four stars myself!) but,  what are you gonna do? Go to the store and buy them you say? Ugghhh, well that brings me to my next usual dilemma. I am usually deciding at the last minute to make something and therefore no time for trips to the supermarket. So, what I need is a 4 star recipe that can be hacked and still receive rave reviews. I'll keep you posted...
Google is a very big part of my day. I just love it! It doesn't matter what I am trying to do Google can make it easier. If I need a recipe, decorating ideas, helping the kids with their homework, or just digging for dirt on something I saw on the news and want more information. It always has what I want. If Google were a human being it would be my best friend. Of course, I would have to be much nicer to it. I couldn't get annoyed with it like I do my computer screen, or let crumbs drop all over it as I used it because a live google version would not appreciate my toast crumbs in their lap.
The other day my dad and I were talking and he had mentioned something he was trying to find so, of course, I offered to Google it as I usually do. After I found the answer to his problem he said, "Wow, that Google can find just about anything can't it?" I laughed and said yes, but later I thought how weird to not know that. How does he function!! lol!!
I will be googling a lot in the next few days as I continue the redecorating around the house I mentioned in my last post. I need paris theme ideas for Emily's room and Nathan has decided he wants a jungle theme in his room. I also will be traveling a lot over the summer and will be scouring the google realms of knowledge for peoples tips on Disney trips: how to go cheap and avoid annoying things like lines, expensive food that isn't worth it, and which parks are the best.
My proudest Google of recent? I Google how to cut boys hair! My youngest son, Nathan has a sensory disorder and hates to be touched. He especially hates getting his hair cut. So, he will only let me cut his hair. In order to be able to do that with out destroying his hair, I found a tutorial on Google on how to cut your boys hair. It worked! I was able to cut his hair and he still loved me after! I love you Google...
Happy Memorial Day everyone and may your Google never be down!!

  1. Another good one! I'll never look at Google in the same way. The wife and I were watching an old movie from the 70's, and I was laughing about the fact that one of the characters in the film was looking for a payphone. Sometimes I wonder how in the world we made it without cellphones. :D

I am a stay at home mom to three great kids that keep me parenting outside the box. I take one day at time, lean on my Lord, and relish any and all advice that helps me or my kids, or me, or my family, did I say me? Seven years ago I lost my wonderful mother unexpectedly. There have been so many times I have wanted to pick up the phone to call and tell her something funny about the kids or ask her advice. So,this blog is dedicated to her, the dearest mommy in the world! I love you, mom!
