So, the redecorating is going pretty well. I forgot to take before pictures of the living room and kitchen so there will be no pictures. It's actually not that drastic of a change anyhow, but it feels like it to me. My curtains in the living room were way too long so I cut them off and used the excess material to make a few throw pillows for the couch. Now if I can just keep Ginger my little yorkie poo from eating the corners off! You would think I laced these pillows with bacon the way she is chewing the edges of all of these pillows! I changed out the curtains in the dining area from black to a sage green sheer curtain and majorly decluttered. I am not a fan of excess "stuff" sitting around anyhow, so this was easy. I also used some of the excess material from the curtains to make a valance for the window over the sink. (Those curtains really were way too long!) All of these rooms are all together and like one big open space so the valance above the kitchen sink matching the living room curtains really tided the spaces together. The whole place just feels lighter and brighter.
Now I have moved on to my daughters room. I spent a lot of time in her room this weekend while she was at a friends house. I find it is easier to go through and "declutter" the kids rooms when they are not there. Makes for a lot fewer tantrums and crying. I get tired of throwing those tantrums when they won't let go of something! LOL!
She wants a Paris theme so I spent a little time with my good friend Google and found some really great ideas. I also am currently in love with a website called www.posterrevolution.com! Thanks to Bestie for the awesome link!!! She is working those interior design skills from across technology land and it is greatly appreciated! You have to check this site out. It has a HUGE selection of posters of all sizes from small to wall size. The best part, they are reasonable in price. I plan to purchase several for Emily's room later this week and none of the ones I have picked out are more than $5!!! Now that's designing on a dime! Again, thanks bestie!!
I guess the biggest change of all...the Christmas tree is gone! That's right people, I finally got the tree down and shoved into a closet. It really made the living room look huge! It's gonna be really hard to break it out again come Christmas.
Well, that's my update. Making progress and getting ideas. Really excited about the changes ahead. Hoping to get a lot of this done before the family comes to visit in a few weeks. Thanks for all the suggestions and great ideas. I will definitely post
"after" pictures of Emily's room.
Have a great week everyone!
Welcome to Mommy dearest! As a mom of three amazing kids, I started this blog so that I could share a peek at what motherhood really looks like. It can be beautiful, but be warned, it can also be quite ugly!! It can make you laugh or make you scream, but no matter what, it will always give you unconditional love!

- I am a stay at home mom to three great kids that keep me parenting outside the box. I take one day at time, lean on my Lord, and relish any and all advice that helps me or my kids, or me, or my family, did I say me? Seven years ago I lost my wonderful mother unexpectedly. There have been so many times I have wanted to pick up the phone to call and tell her something funny about the kids or ask her advice. So,this blog is dedicated to her, the dearest mommy in the world! I love you, mom!
