preparing for company...

It's been a good start to the day so far. I think my motivation is a little higher than yesterday. It is not even 9am and I have already washed a load of clothes and have my bread dough rising for our rolls for dinner tonight. The kitchen is clean and the momentum is still strong! It's gonna be a good day.
My family will be here in less than a week! Six more days to be exact! I can't wait. I will be cleaning and straightening until the kids holler that they are in the driveway. I have cabinets in the kitchen to reorganize and the closets in the kids rooms to clean out. You would think I was planning for a military inspection the way I clean before company. It's not like they are going to check all my cabinets and closets, but I feel like these cluttered spaces would be haunting me throughout the visit. At any time a door could be opened to reveal my secret messy habits! Can't handle that kind of pressure.
In preparation for the family visit I have been trying out new recipes on the everyday family. I think they come to the table every night scared. lol. I can see the fear in their eyes when the approach the table. Eyes wildly scanning the table while asking in a shaky voice, "what's for dinner?". I feel bad for them...well, not bad enough to stop, but hey, sacrifice for the greater good is sometimes needed! So far all the new recipes have been given a thumbs up. My oldest ate one of my new meals for lunch yesterday. I noticed his plate was clean so I excitedly asked if he liked it. He said it was okay, I mean good, but it's not something I would want to eat again. Okay, interesting
review. What I took from it? He ate all of it so it passes the test! LOL! I mean realistically, if it is good enough to be finished it goes in the recipe box. They can't all be finger licking good... : )

About Me

I am a stay at home mom to three great kids that keep me parenting outside the box. I take one day at time, lean on my Lord, and relish any and all advice that helps me or my kids, or me, or my family, did I say me? Seven years ago I lost my wonderful mother unexpectedly. There have been so many times I have wanted to pick up the phone to call and tell her something funny about the kids or ask her advice. So,this blog is dedicated to her, the dearest mommy in the world! I love you, mom!
