I was cracking up earlier at this post an old classmate put on facebook. She posted two pictures of a baby and a mother asleep in bed. The first picture says perception above it and shows a very beautiful woman all in white lying next to her even more beautiful baby also all in white sleeping in the most tranquil and gorgeous way on again an all white bed. Beautiful, right?
The second picture has the word reality above it and is a picture of a mother and baby sound asleep in a very disheveled bed. Both are clad in mismatching pj's and sleeping in awkward positions. The mom is on the verge of falling right off the side of the bed and the baby has turned completely around and has a foot in the mothers face!
I had to laugh at the truth that resonated from that second picture. We all long for picture one, but the reality is that you are going to sleep in whatever is clean and comfortable or if we want to get really honest, what you wore that day! Baby is not going to lye blissfully by our side all night cuddling and sleeping like a dream. Baby is going to toss and turn and kick and use you as a prop for feet or head or which ever body part is flailing around at the moment.
While it may not be the prettier of the two pictures, I gotta say after fourteen years of mother hood, I almost can't sleep with out someones leg propped up on my side. Funny how we adapt to reality and the picture that we perceived before parenthood changes so drastically, but in a very wonderful way.
Welcome to Mommy dearest! As a mom of three amazing kids, I started this blog so that I could share a peek at what motherhood really looks like. It can be beautiful, but be warned, it can also be quite ugly!! It can make you laugh or make you scream, but no matter what, it will always give you unconditional love!

- I am a stay at home mom to three great kids that keep me parenting outside the box. I take one day at time, lean on my Lord, and relish any and all advice that helps me or my kids, or me, or my family, did I say me? Seven years ago I lost my wonderful mother unexpectedly. There have been so many times I have wanted to pick up the phone to call and tell her something funny about the kids or ask her advice. So,this blog is dedicated to her, the dearest mommy in the world! I love you, mom!
